Nikki Swenson 16th in NCAA 1,500 Meters

Minnesota senior Nikki Swenson capped her Golden Gopher track career by placing 16th in the semifinal of the 800-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday. Swenson clocked a time of 4 minutes, 23.32 seconds, placing eighth in her heat. The Dawson, Minn. native made her third career appearance at the national outdoor meet.

The Gophers have one more competitor in this year’s NCAA meet. Senior Samantha Sonnenberg will compete in the pole vault on Friday.
