The University of Minnesota women's soccer team came away with a 2-1 double overtime victory in its exhibition match against North Dakota State on Friday night at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
Senior Jolie Solie was the hero of the match when she scored the game-winning goal in the 110th minute after Olivia Bagnall crossed the ball into the box.
The No. 22 ranked Gophers recorded a plethora of shots in the first half, but the Bison were able to tally the first goal in the 31st minute when Holly Christian assisted Abbey Moenkedick. NDSU would take the 1-0 lead into the locker room for halftime.
Minnesota tied up the match in the second half, when Steph Brandt tapped the ball to Shari Eckstrom for the game-tying goal in the 68th minute.
The Golden Gophers outshot the Bison 14-6 with seven of those shots being on goal.
The exhibition with North Dakota State is the Gophers' only friendly of the preseason. Minnesota now turns its sights onto No. 6 Maryland. Head coach Mikki Denney Wright and her squad travels to face the nationally-ranked squad on Friday, August 19.
