It has been a crazy couple of weeks for University of Minnesota head women's golf coach Michele Redman. It was announced on Aug. 10 that she would take the reins of a Gopher program that is coming off arguably its best season in the history of the program. The senior lead squad qualified for the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2001 and advanced to the NCAA Championships for only the second time in history.
The start of one career for Redman also meant the end of another. Last week at the Safeway Classic in Oregon, the 20- year LPGA veteran and former Indiana University All-American retired from professional golf.
Neil Reid from LPGA.com spoke with Redman following the retirement announcement. His article can be read here.
A member of the IU's Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame and the National College Golf Coaches Hall of Fame, Redman finishes her professional career the winner of three Futures Tour events, two LPGA tour events and ranked 27th in all-time career money earnings in the history of the LPGA Tour. She has been a member of four United States Solheim Cup teams as well as the 2011 United States Handa Cup team.
