Gophers Win Opener 6-1 Over Union

No. 4 Minnesota opened the season with a 6-1 win over
As head coach Brad Frost anticipated,
The top line of Amanda Kessel, Jen Schoullis and Sarah Erickson scored four goals for the Gophers tonight. Kessel notched the first goal at 3:07 in the first, assisted by Erickson and Schoullis. Erickson tallied her first goal of the season with assists from Kessel and Schoullis with 9:13 left in the period.
Union came back from intermission and scored quickly, getting its first goal just two minutes into the second period on the power play with
Schoullis got her first goal of the season with assists from Kessel and Erickson with 11:40 remaining in the second period. Schoullis was also credited with the Gophers' fifth goal, on the power play, with just under four minutes remaining in the period.
