The three-day event began today and in addition to Minnesota and Northwestern, it features participants from Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Western Michigan, Illinois-Chicago, DePaul and Oklahoma.
There are four flights in singles and two in doubles. Seven Gophers made the trip and are all competing in singles, while six are participating in doubles.
On Friday, matches were moved indoors to the Combe Tennis Center and only doubles competition was conducted.
Alexa Palen and Magdalena Wiecha, who placed third in the top doubles flight at the Gopher Invitational two weeks ago with a 3-1 record, is the lone Minnesota team in the top flight. The won their first two matches against opponents from Oklahoma and Illinois-Chicago before falling in the semifinals to Jaklin Alawi and Dominika Kanakova of South Carolina. They did not play their third-place match against a duo from Oklahoma.

Lambert was paired with sophomore Emilie Renault in the second doubles flight as well. The duo went 1-1.
Following the tournament at Northwestern, the Gophers next event will be the Oct. 20-24 Wilson/ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
