The Big Ten Conference announced its 2011-12 Women's Golfers to Watch List today, and three Golden Gophers were among the group of 36 athletes.

Jackie Shepherd, a junior, is Minnesota's only returning NCAA Championships competitor. She recorded two career-low rounds of 72 last season. Her career stroke average entering the season is 78.25, the sixth-lowest in program history.

Banchalee Theinthong competed at the NCAA Central Regional meet as a freshman in 2011. She competed in nine of the team's 12 events and finished the season with a stroke average of 77.67.

One of five freshmen on the Big Ten's watch list, Sarinee Thitiratanakorn comes to Minnesota with a wealth of international golf experience. She has competed as a member of Thailand's national team, and she finished third at the 2010 Optimist Junior Championship.

The Gophers start their fall season this weekend at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C. The tournament starts on Sunday, Sept. 11 and runs through Tuesday, Sept. 13.
