Gophers Move Up to No. 7 in the National Rankings

Minnesota began the season ranked No. 8 nationally in the pre-season coaches poll. The team competed in their first official meet of the 2012 season last weekend at the Windy City Invitational, finishing fourth out of six.
The first National Rankings were released Tuesday and the Gophers have moved up to 7th as a team.
The team also has several athletes ranked in the top 20 on each event. In the all-around rankings, DJ Repp is ranked No. 10.
On the floor exercise Kyle Banks leads the team with a No. 7 ranking. Repp is ranked 12th.
Freshman Ellis Mannon, who won the pommel horse event at the Windy City Invitational, is ranked 3rd on the event. Teammate John Scallon is tied for 11th.
Co-captain Adam LaFleur holds onto a No. 19 on the vault.
Senior Russell Dabritz is ranked in the top 20 on two events. He is 19th on the still rings and tied for 11th on the parallel bars with co-captain Ross Cameratta.
Josh Wokurka represents the Gophers on the high bar with a No. 14 national ranking.
The team will look to improve on these opening rankings at their first home meet this Saturday against UIC.
