Minnesota Cruises to a Jack Johnson Classic Title

Minnesota took the top three spots in the 60m dash and 800m run, to cruise to a Jack Johnson Classic team title with 190 points. Chimerem Okoroji (7.52), Chidera Obasih (7.60) and Sasha Davis (7.64) were the Gophers top three in the 60m, while Heather Brunn (2:14.07), Katie Hill (2:14.07) and Megan Smith (2:14.89) lead the way in the 800m.
North Dakota State (120), South Dakota (105), Northern Iowa (85.5) and South Dakota State (52) rounded out the top five in overall team scoring.
DeAnne Hahn landed a throw of 17.55m (57-7) to win her second title of the season in the weight throw. Jeri Johnson-Chambers finished third for Minnesota with a mark of 17.14m (56-3), which was more than three feet further than her top throw last week.
Christina DeLakis won the shot put with a toss of 15.11m (49-7). It was the second title of the 2012 season for the redshirt freshman, who captured the title last week with a mark of 14.86m (48-9). Hahn finished third for Minnesota with a mark of 14.78m (48-6).
In the 3,000m, Minnesota scored the top two spots with Rachel Drake (9:44.58) and Molly Kayfes (9:47.61) leading the way for the Maroon and Gold.
Stephanie Price and Laura Docherty were up front for the Gophers in the mile, as Price ran a 4:50.75, which was second overall. Laura Docherty was right behind her running 4:55.65.
Other Gopher Top Finishes:
High Jump: Melissa Flucke, third place 1.66m (5-5 ¼).
600m: Sharyn Dahl, third place 1:33.59.
Minnesota will next head to Mankato, Minn., next weekend to participate in the Minnesota State Open (Friday-Saturday). The Gophers won't return home until Saturday February 18, when they host the Parents Day Invitational.
Note: Former Golden Gopher Heather Kampf set a new Jack Johnson record in the mile with a time of 4:41.58...Olimpia Nowak of Northern Iowa set the new Jack Johnson 60 hurdles with a time of 8.44...North Dakota State's 4x400 relay team set a new UM Fieldhouse record with a time of 3:48.00.
