The ITA released regional rankings earlier this week and two Gophers are ranked in the Top 20 in the Central Region.
Junior Doron Muravnik is ranked No. 12, while freshman Julia Courter comes in at No. 20.
Muravnik led all Gophers with nine singles wins in the fall. She was 9-3 overall and two of her losses came against ranked opponents. She won six of seven matches to start the fall and posted a 2-1 record at the Gopher Invitational. She then went 3-0 at Northwestern's Wildcat Invitational and also earned three wins at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Courter finished the fall season with a 6-3 record in singles play. She won the first three matches of her collegiate career to advance to the final at the Gopher Invitational in September. She then won two matches to reach the Round of 16 at the Wilson/ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Courter was 1-0 in matches that went three sets.
Muravnik, Courter and the rest of the Minnesota women's tennis team begin their spring season Jan. 27 when they host Iowa State at 6 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
