The University of Minnesota men's golf team concluded the 2012 Jerry Pate Invitational in Alabama with a combined third round score of 312. The Gophers finished in 11th place with a 54-hole score of 921 (304-305-312).

Junior Alex Gaugert paced the Gophers during the final round with a 76. He finished the event in a tie for 51st place with a score of 234. Senior Erik Van Rooyen carded a 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 26th with a three-day card of 223.

Freshman Jon DuToit and redshirt freshman Charlie Braniff each contributed a final round 79 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 47th and onle in 56th, respectively. Senior David Haley Jr. withdrew from the tournament after sustaining a back injury.

The awards stayed in Alabama, as the host Crimson Tide took home the team title by four strokes over the University of Florida while Alabama's Justin Thomas won medalist honors by one stroke over Auburn's Michael Johnson.

The Jerry Pate Invitational was Minnesota's final fall event. The Gophers will be back on the links on Feb. 8-9 at the Big Ten Matchplay in Florida. Minnesota finished second at the 2012 event, losing to Northwestern in the finals.
