Gophers are in Contention Heading into Final Round in Vegas

The University of Minnesota women's golf team is in contention heading into the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Gophers are tied for fourth place with the University of Wisconsin with a 36-hole score of 604 (299-305) but are only eight strokes off the lead.
Sophomore Carmen Laguna made the move of the day for the Gophers, as she led Minnesota with an even-par round of 72 and is in a tie for fourth place. Junior Banchalee Theinthong joins Laguna in fourth place following her second round card of 74. The Gopher duo joins two other players that are only three shots off the lead.
Senior Jackie Shepherd is in a tie for 28th place with a 36-hole score of 153. Sarinee Thitiratanakorn and Anna Laorr are in a tie for 50th place and 57th place, respectively.
Central Florida used a second round team score of 293 to move up seven spots and take over the top spot from the University of Indiana and Wisconsin. Penn State is in second place, two shots shy of the Knights and one shot ahead of the third place Hoosiers. PSU's Christina Vosters holds the 36-hole lead by one stroke over Mississippi State's Ally McDonald.
The third and final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. CT and can be followed love at www.golfstat.com.
