Gophers Show Off New Uniforms

The Gophers kicked off the 2012-13 season Wednesday night in style, not in any Halloween costumes, but in their new Nike jerseys.

The uniforms are much lighter than they have been in the past and the players are loving it.

"Everyone is so happy, just raving about them" equipment director Lori Gislason said.

The style is little different from last year, as the back is made up with a completely different piece of fabric that Nike refers to as their aerographic design. It is comparable to a subtle image, which allows for more breathing and much lighter material.

The women's basketball team is among a few other Gopher sports that got the privilege to reveal a new style this year. The football program and the men's basketball team also received top-notch jerseys from Nike for the 2012-13 season.

The Gophers proved to played very well Wednesday night in the new look, defeating Concordia St. Paul 76-49 in the home white jerseys.
