University of Minnesota swimmer Kyler Van Swol was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Tuesday following the Gophers' win over Iowa last weekend.
Van Swol posted three first-place finishes and one third-place finish, claiming the title in the 100 fly (47.82), 200 fly (1:47.47) and the 200 medley relay (1:29.06), as well as earning third in the 200 IM (1:51.40).
Van Swol's time of 47.82 in the 100 fly is the fastest time in the nation so far this season. The junior's times in both the 100 fly and 200 fly were also NCAA provisional qualifying times.
The honor is the first for Van Swol on the season and third of his career.
