Banham Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced Monday that Minnesota sophomore guard Rachel Banham was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week after leading the Golden Gophers to three wins over Denver, UMKC and Robert Morris last week. In Minnesota's trio of victories, Banham averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals.

On top of her per-game statistics, she also shot .600 from the floor, .429 from beyond the arch and was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.

She opened the week by notching 21 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals in Minnesota's win vs. Denver, before posting 29 points vs. UMKC. She knocked down a career-high 11 field goals, included five from three-point range, and added five assists, seven rebounds and a block in the victory.

She finished out the week with her 14th-straight double-digit performance vs. Robert Morris, scoring 12 points, while adding six assists, two steals and four rebounds.

Banham earned her second Big Ten Player of the Week award and first this season, and shares the honor with Penn State's Maggie Lucas. The last Gopher to be named the Big Ten Player of the Week was Micaëlla Riché on Nov. 12, 2012.
