THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
• The University of Minnesota women's basketball team concludes its non-conference slate vs. Creighton at Williams Arena Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
• The Golden Gophers enter the contest with a 10-3 record on the season and look to improve upon their four-game win streak, which matches its longest streak of the year.
• Creighton is also looking to protect its winning streak in Sunday's matchup, as the Bluejays have won their last six contests and carry an 8-2 overall record into their game against the Gophers.
• The Bluejays' only losses have come against ranked opponents (No. 12 Oklahoma and No. 22 Kansas) and they have yet to lose a contest on the road this season, holding a 6-0 record as the visiting team.
• Minnesota and Creighton will meet on the hardwood for the sixth time on Sunday, with the Gophers holding a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series.
• Three of Minnesota's wins have come in Minneapolis, with the Gophers outscoring the Bluejays, 249-184, in those contests.
• Kayla Hirt was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Dec. 24 for her performance vs. Northern Iowa on Dec. 21.
• Hirt posted her first-career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, including five on the offensive end, in the win vs. the Panthers.
• Minnesota's eight non-conference, regular season home victories this season are the most in program history.
• With 841 career points, Rachel Banham needs just 159 more points to become the 21st Gopher in program history to notch 1,000 points in her career.
• She would become only the third Gopher to reach the milestone in just two years of play.
• Amanda Zahui B. began practicing with the Gophers on Dec. 27, just two days after arriving on campus Christmas Day.
• Minnesota will open it Big Ten season with a pair of road games at Michigan State and Wisconsin on Jan. 3 and Jan. 6, respectively.
