THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
• The University of Minnesota women's basketball team continues its season-long five game homestand Friday when it hosts UMKC in a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Williams Arena.
• A live video stream of the contest will be available on Gopher All-Access, as well as BTN.com.
• Fans can also listen to the game against the Kangaroos live on KBEM Jazz 88.5 FM, with Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.
• The Golden Gophers are 7-3 on the season following their 74-51 victory vs. Denver on Wednesday night at Williams Arena.
• Two of Minnesota's losses this season have come away from the friendly confines of Williams Arena, with the Gophers holding a 5-1 record on their home court in 2012-13.
• UMKC enters Friday's contest with a 4-5 record on the season following a 1-1 showing at the Air Force Classic last week.
• The Kangaroos have won two of their last three game, which includes victories vs. Air Force and LIU Brooklyn.
• Minnesota leads UMKC, 2-0, in the all-time series, which dates back to December 13, 2002.
• Wednesday's matchup will be the second between the two squads in Minneapolis, with the Gophers winning the first, 88-53, on Dec. 13, 2002.
• Since Pam Borton's arrival at Minnesota, the Gophers are 60-10 in non-conference, regular-season home games.
• During that time, the Gophers have never lost more than two games in a season to non-conference foes in Minneapolis.
• Rachel Banham needs only 226 more points to become the 21st Gopher in program history to notch 1,000 career points.
• With the guard averaging 19.4 points per game, she could possibly reach the milestone in Minnesota's Big Ten matchup vs. Michigan on Jan. 31 at Williams Arena.
• Banham currently paces Minnesota in scoring with her 19.4 points per game average, while also boasting team-highs with 45 assists and 27 steals.
