Minnesota Finishes 18th at UCF Challenge

The Golden Gophers finished 18th at the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla. In its first tournament of the spring season, Minnesota's three-round team score was 929 (+65).
The Gophers had their highest scoring day today, posting a 318 after yesterday's 301. Banchalee Theinthong was the team's top finisher, with a 10-over 226 to place 52nd in the tournament. She posted a 75 today. Carmen Laguna also shot a 75 today, finishing at 13-over for the tournament. Jackie Shepherd (+17) posted an 81. Sarinee Thitiratanakorn and Aubrie Nelson each recorded an 87.
Auburn, which entered the final round tied for first, edged out Baylor by two strokes. The Tigers posted a team score of 863 (-1). Auburn's Victoria Trapani (-3) won the event after starting the day in second place.
Minnesota will next travel to Parrish, Fla., for the Central District Invitational from Feb. 20-21.
