After a week off from team competition, the sixth ranked Gophers are headed to Iowa this weekend to take on Big Ten competitors Iowa and Nebraska. Iowa is ranked No. 12, just behind No. 11 Nebraska.
The Gophers' last meet as a team was two weeks ago, where they had their strongest showing of the season on the road against the Air Force Academy.
"The meet this weekend will get us back on track with team competition within the Big Ten," head coach Mike Burns said. "It gives us the chance to see how we perform on the road again. Competing well on the road is critical to our success as a team."
The meet will be held at the University of Iowa in the same venue that will host the Big Ten Championships in early April.
"It's a great opportunity to get to compete in the same gym where the Big Ten Championships will be held," Burns said. "With that said, there are a lot of things to be gleaned from this coming weekend."
The lineup is slowly getting solidified, though there are still some potential impact players vying for positions in the 15-man roster. The rest of this week's practices will determine the remaining spots.
"After the majority of the team having last weekend off due to the Winter Cup, I think they are really hungry to get back into competing," Burns said. "With a short bus trip to Iowa I think these guys are ready to capitalize on the great performance we had on the road against Air Force two weeks ago."
The meet will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT.
