Keefer Places Third in 1 Meter at NCAA Zone Diving

University of Minnesota sophomore Maggie Keefer posted a score of 583.50 in 1 meter diving to secure a third-place finish Thursday to lead a group of four Gophers at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Pool.
Keefer opened the day with a score of 293.15 in the preliminaries, before notching a 290.35 in the final to record the highest score for a Gopher on the day.
Fellow sophomore Sarah McCrady recorded a ninth-place finish by registering a final score of 541.20. McCrady posted a preliminary score of 275.80 and finished the day with a 265.40 in the finals, while Katie Grunawalt followed closely behind in 10th place. The junior tallied a score of 254.05 in the preliminary round and a mark of 266.45 in the finals for a complete-day score of 520.50.
Freshman Katy Etterman also competed in the preliminaries of 1 meter diving, registering a score of 249.45.
Keefer, McCrady, Grunawalt and Etterman will be back in action Friday when they compete in 3 meter diving and will conclude the Zone Diving event Saturday with platform diving.
