Friday 4/5: Minnesota 5, Penn State 2

Sunday 4/8: Ohio State 4, Minnesota 3

Hello, Gopher fans! This weekend was, overall, a very good one for Gopher women's tennis. We departed for Penn State very early Thursday morning at 4:45. All the girls were very tired and one had to go through a little extra security.

When we arrived at the courts at Penn State, we had a great practice and got to work on shots of our choice. It was a practice of great energy, and that same energy carried into our match the next day. We swept at doubles and the coaches were very pleased with our performance. They were so pleased that Ty put tattoos on his face! How silly! Next, in singles, we were able to pull out four of the six matches, which gave us a 5-2 win. All the matches were close, but our ability to fight gave us an edge in those long matches.

The next day, we had a six-hour car ride to Ohio State. Our team road trips are always very fun. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant where they had the best pie ever-or maybe the worst pie ever! No one was really sure! We also got to share some vey funny stories and talk about Whitney's 36-month anniversary with her boyfriend. We finally got to our hotel, Hyatt Place, and got to relax that evening and prepare for our match the next day. However, some of the girls that were celebrating Lent went to a church service that night for an Easter Special that lasted three hours. Most girls on the team gave up chocolate for Lent, so they were very excited when they got to eat some again-a little too excited, if you ask me.

The next morning, we played against Ohio State. We had great energy throughout the whole team. Once again, we swept the doubles point. In singles, five out of the six matches went to third sets. It was one of the closest matches we have had all year. We lost the first four singles matches, but were able to win the next two, that led us to the 4-3 loss. Everyone on our team gave their 100% effort, and it was an awesome match to play.

This week, we will be playing Indiana on Friday and Purdue on Sunday. Come out to watch and support your Gopher women's tennis team! Thank you for reading this week's blog and I hope everyone had a good Easter Sunday! Have a great week!

Thanks!
