The Minnesota women's tennis team lost 7-0 at No. 18 Nebraska on Friday afternoon. The Gophers, who entered the match ranked No. 33, are now 14-7 overall and 4-6 in the Big Ten. Minnesota will wrap up its regular season on Sunday at noon against rival Iowa at Baseline Tennis Center.

The Gophers will also celebrate Senior Day on Sunday and will honor their lone senior Magdalena Wiecha.

Nebraska stunned Minnesota in doubles with consecutive 8-0 wins at the first and second positions to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the overall match.

The Gophers' third pairing of Tereza Brichacova and Aria Lambert was tripped up 8-6 by Janine Weinreich and Izabella Zgierska as Nebraska swept the doubles competition.

The Cornhuskers raced to a 2-0 in the match when Mary Weatherholt, who is ranked No. 45, topped Natallia Pintusava 6-0, 6-0 at first singles. They increased their lead to 3-0 when Jennifer Holmberg beat Yuliana Umanets 6-3, 6-1 at the sixth slot.

Alexa Palen, who played at third singles for only the second time this year, fell 6-3, 6-3. Brichacova was the lone Gopher to go a true three sets, but ended up on the wrong side of the result. The Minnesota freshman lost 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 to Stefanie Weinstein at the fourth position.

Doron Muravnik dropped a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) decision at second singles. It was only the second time that Muravnik played at the second position this year. She has played at every spot in the lineup this season with the exception of first singles.

Julia Courter played fifth singles for Minnesota but retired before her match was complete.

After facing the Hawkeyes on Sunday, Minnesota heads to the Big Ten tournament, which will be held April 26-29, in Columbus, Ohio
