Minnesota Finishes Seventh at Lady Buckeye Invitational

Minnesota finished in seventh place at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. The Gophers shot 943 (+79) in the 54-hole tournament. Minnesota was lead by Banchalee Theinthong. She finished tied for fourth place at the invitational (+12). She concluded her tournament by carding a 77 (+5) today.
Minnesota had its' best round of the tournament today at the Ohio State Golf Club's Scarlet Course. The Gophers shot 311 (+23) as a team, which was five strokes better than its' first two rounds. Jackie Shepherd shot a team-best 75 (+3) today. Shepherd finished the tournament in a tie for 21st place. Freshman Carmen Laguna recorded a round of 78 (+6) to finish the tournament in a tie for 29th.
Sarinee Thitiratanakorn carded round of 83 (+11) Anna Laorr shot her second-straight round of 82 (+10). Taylor Quinn had her best round of the tournament, after recording a round of 81 (+9) today.
Ohio State, the hosts, won the tournament by sixteen strokes. The Buckeyes were the only team able to post a score lower than 900. Ohio State shot a score of 894 (+30). The Buckeyes finished ahead of second-place Michigan State, who shot 910 (+46). Rachel Rohanna of Ohio State won the tournament among individuals. She shot a 212 (-4). Rohanna was the only golfer to finish below par. Iowa State's Punpaka Phuntumabamrung was second, eight strokes back of Rohanna. Minnesota's Theinthong finished 16 strokes back.
The Gophers will play be back in action Friday. Minnesota will be competing against many of the same teams they faced in Columbus at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind.
