Two Minnesota golfers recently turned in second-place performances in their respective tournaments. Sarinee Thitiratanakorn finished second in the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship, and Jackie Shepherd took runner-up honors in the Wisconsin Women's State Open.

Thitiratanakorn posted the best score of any amateur in the professional tournament's field, shooting 74 and 71 on the last two days. Last year for the Gophers, her best round was a 73. Thitiratanakorn will begin her sophomore season this fall.

Shepherd posted scores of 73 and 76 to finish two strokes behind the winner at Geneva National Golf Club. She held the Gophers' second-best stroke average (76.36) during the 2011-12 season and tied for seventh at the Big Ten Championship. Shepherd will be a senior this season.
