Minnesota Finishes Second at Autumn Classic

PROVO, Utah - The No. 17 Minnesota men's cross country team finished second at the Autumn Classic in Provo, Utah after combining for 55 team points. No. 3 BYU, which hosted the race, claimed top honors with a score of 15 while Jared Ward won the individual medal with a time of 20:02.7.

Andrew Larsen paced the Gophers with a time of 20:26.1 in 11th place while Pieter Gagnon was one spot back at 12th in 20:26.3. John Simons finished 14th with a time of 20:36.7 while Marcus Paulson came in 16th at 20:39.9. Derek Storkelrounded out the Gophers scoring, finishing in 18th place with a time of 20:48.9.

Steve Sulkin and Travis Burkstrandalso posted top 30 finishes for the Gophers. Sulking crossed the finish line at 21:15.6 for 25th place while Burkstrand came in 29th at 21:26.9.

Behind ranked BYU and Minnesota, Utah Valley finished third in the team competition with 78 points while Idaho State finished fourth with 112.

Minnesota returns to action on Sept. 29 with the 27th annual Roy Griak Invitational.
