LAST WEEK IN GOPHER SOCCER
The University of Minnesota women's soccer team will return home to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium this weekend after a tough loss on the road last weekend.
The Golden Gophers traveled to Evanston, Ill. to battle the Northwestern University Wildcats last Saturday. Despite their previous weekend's upset of then No. 7 Penn State at home, the Golden Gophers were unable to top the Wildcats. NU was able to pick up their first Big Ten win of 2013. Minnesota was trailled in shots and was out scored by the Wildcats, 2-0.
The loss to Northwestern moved the Gophers to 9-4-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in the Big Ten. The complete Big Ten standings can be found here.

SCOUTING IOWA
Iowa is coming off a Big Ten road win against Indiana. The 2-1 win over the Hooisers allowed the Hawkeyes to move to 3-3-0 in Big Ten play. Their only losses have been to Big Ten teams this season against Michigan (2-1), Illinois (2-1) and Nebraska (2-1). In the match against Indiana, Cloe Lacsse assisted by Bri Tolle and a penalty kick by Melanie Pickert were the tallies on the score board that ulitimately lead the Hawkeyes to victory.
THE SERIES
The Golden Gophers lead the all-time series, 10-3-2, with last season's match up ending in a scoreless draw after double overtime play. The last victory over Minnesota for Iowa came in 2007 here at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
SCOUTING NO. 22 NEBRASKA
No. 22 Nebraska is coming off a B1G win over Purdue last Sunday. The Cornhuskers were able to outscore Purdue, 4-0. Nebraska is 5-1-0 in the Big Ten with their only loss to Michigan. Their other losses on the season were to then No. 6 BYU and Arkansas bringing their overall record to 10-3-1 for the season. In the game against Purdue, Jordan Jackson had a huge game for the Cornhuskers racking up five points by scoring one goal and tallying three assists in the game allowing her to pick up not only Big Ten honors but also being added to the TopDrawerSoccer.com team of the week. Other noteworthy players from that match includ Mayme Conrad, Katie Kraeutner, Jaycie Jackson and Caroline Gray who all had goals or assists in that match.
THE NOTORIOUS B1G
The Golden Gophers have only scored two goals in Big Ten play this year. They have held their opponents to only 12 goals through 14 matches and have combined for six shutouts on the season. The Gophers are looking to improve their Big Ten record with victories over Iowa and Nebraska this weekend.

ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL
The Gophers have found a way to bring the concept of "teamwork" alive on the field each and every game. The Gophers have seen a vast variety of goal scorers this season as well as scoring opportunities created by different players each time. The Gophers have allowed the element of surprise in their game because no one knows who will step up during that specific game. The Gophers have had twelve different players with goals and/or assists.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Did you know that the Gophers are unbeaten at home this season? They have three more opportunities to be victorious in front of their home crowd in 2013.
- Did you know that Katie Thyken is only two goals away from her career-high seven goals that she set last season with six games to go?
- Did you know that the Gophers have won each of their Sunday matches this season?
