Laguna Finishes Second at Hoosier Fall Invitational

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Carmen Laguna fired a career-low round of 67 on Sunday to finish second at the Hoosier Fall Invitational as the University of Minnesota women's golf team placed eighth at the two-day meet. Laguna's tournament score of 212 was also a career best while the runner-up finish tied for her best finish.
While Saturday's second round was called due to darkness and continued early Sunday morning, Laguna fired the lowest round of the junior's career with a 67 to close out the three-round tournament, finishing the event with a 72-73-67-212 to finish two strokes behind UC Davis' Betty Chen (72-69-69-210). UC Davis also took the team title at 296-288-284-868 while the Gophers ended the weekend with a team score of 304-297-295-896.
Also scoring for the Gophers were Banchalee Theinthong in a tie for 36th at 78-75-75-228, Sarinee Thitiratanakorn in a tie for 40th at 79-71-79-229, Anna Laorr in a tie for 62nd at 75-85-74-234 and Emie Peronnin in a tie for 74th at 79-78-79-236.
Minnesota also sent a pair of individuals to the tournament with Sophie Kitchen tying for 42nd at 78-73-79-230 and Taylor Quinn coming in tied for 82nd at 83-78-79-240.
The Hoosier Fall Invitational, played at Hickory Stick Golf Club, was a par 71, 6,062-yard course.
The Gophers close out the fall season next weekend at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, played at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas.
