After an impressive weekend for the Golden Gophers, freshman goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week as well as Co-Freshman of the Week.

In this weekend's matches against Ohio State and No. 7 Penn State, Hobbs was able to tally seven saves in each match and recorded her third-consecutive Big Ten shutout.

After this weekends 14 saves, Hobbs now has 55 saves on the season and is leading the Big Ten in Save Percentage (.873) and Saves Per Game (5.5). She sits in third for overall saves with 55, just behind Jenna Hascher from Northwestern and Claire Wheatley from Illinois who are tied at 56. She has made at least five saves in each of the last four games for the Golden Gophers.

This is the first set of Big Ten conference honors for Hobbs. The last Minnesota Defensive Player of the week was Cat Parkhill (Oct. 15, 2012) and the last Minnesota Freshman of the Week was Taylor Uhl (Oct. 31, 2011).

She shares Co-Freshman of the Week honors with Maddy Williams, a freshman forward from Purdue, who scored both game-winning goals this weekend against Illinois and Northwestern.
