MINNEAPOLIS -- Following a tie for fifth at the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa on Friday afternoon, the University of Minnesota men's cross country team was unsuccessful in its bid for an at-large berth to the 2013 NCAA Championships on Saturday, subsequently ending the Gophers' 2013 season.

Minnesota was led by a pair of senior captains who earned NCAA All-Region honors in Ames in Andrew Larsen (18th, 30:51.6) and Derek Storkel (23rd, 31:02.7). Regional honors, which will officially be announced next week, are awarded to the top 25 finishers from each regional.

Larsen and Storkel are the first Gophers to earn All-Regional honors since 2010 when Ben Blankenship, Mike Torchia and Pieter Gagnon earned distinction.
