LUBBOCK, Texas - The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher soccer team finished its 2013 season with a loss to Texas Tech on the road in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

In the first half, the Gophers could not contain Texas Tech's Jessica Fuston and Janine Beckie who scored in the 9th minute and the 32nd minute, respectively. Late in the second half, Beckie found the back of the net again for her 11th goal of the 2013 season. The Gophers were not able to come back from the three goal deficit and went on to be defeated by Texas Tech, 3-0.

The 3-0 victory for Texas Tech allowed the Red Raiders to record its 17th shutout on the season as well as add another win to its most successful season in program history. The Gophers end the season with the loss to the Red Raiders, and finish with a record of 11-8-2.

GOPHER STANDOUT PERFORMANCES

Taylor Stainbrook was able to notch the lone shot on frame for the Golden Gophers. She ends the season with three goals and three assists, while playing in all 21 of the Gophers' matches in 2013.

Goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs proved to be a true fighter, as she took two hard hits in the match against Texas Tech. She was determined to stay in the goal for the Gophers and recorded five saves on the game. She ends the 2013 season with 123 saves, landing her in the Minnesota record books as she sits third in saves in a season in program history.

Other Gophers with shots included Simone Kolander and Taylor Wodnick with two each, as well as Katie Thyken and Becca Roberts with one.
