MINNEAPOLIS – Freshman Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth, Minn.) led the way with three points as No. 1 Minnesota earned a 6-0 shutout win over Princeton in front of 2,158 fans at Ridder Arena Saturday afternoon.

Five Gophers put up multiple points in the win, and 12 Minnesota players had at least one point. Cameranesi's multi-point effort included Minnesota's first goal and last goal along with one assist. Senior Kelly Terry (Whitby, Ont.) and sophomore Hannah Brandt (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) each had one goal and one assist, and juniors Rachael Bona (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Meghan Lorence (Mounds View, Minn.) each added a pair of assists.

Sophomore goaltender Amanda Leveille (Kingston, Ont.) made 11 saves in her fifth shutout of the season as the Gophers out-shot the Tigers, 48-11. Princeton's Kimberly Newll made 35 saves and allowed all six goals before Ashley Holt made seven saves over the final 9:35 of the game.

Minnesota (16-1-0, 11-1-0 WCHA) took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Cameranesi recorded her first of the night at 18:39 of the first period. The Gophers had five shots on their first power-play of the game, and Cameranesi buried one as Princeton's Brianne Mahoney came out of the box for an even-strength tally.

"I thought we started a little slow, a little sluggish," head coach Brad Frost said. "We had four different lines out there tonight than we've had normally, and I think that was part of it. We didn't really establish much of a forecheck in the first period either. It's hard to get up on your toes and do some great things when you're not pressuring them as hard as you need to."

Seniors Bethany Brausen (Little Canada, Minn.), Sarah Davis (Paradise, N.L.) and Terry found the back of the net during the middle frame to extend the Gophers' lead to 4-0. Brausen recorded her first goal of the season at the 2:09 mark before Davis scored at 4:38. Terry then added her team-leading 11th goal at 11:09.

"I thought we made some great adjustments in the second period and played exceptionally well, hammering it into their zone and getting those goals," Frost said. "We played a good third period as well. I'm very happy with the win."

Brandt and Cameranesi capped the Gophers' six-goal effort as each scored her eighth goal of the season in the third period. Brandt's came at 8:02 before Cameranesi scored on the power-play with 9:34 remaining.

Minnesota was 1-for-3 on the power-play while holding Princeton (5-5-2, 4-4-1 ECAC Hockey) scoreless on their lone opportunity with the man advantage.

The Gophers and Tigers conclude the series at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ridder Arena. Minnesota is pleased to welcome fans for Dads and Daughters Day.
