The University of Minnesota is hosting the first annual Unlimited Dance Marathon on February 22-23. The 12-hour event is designed to raise funds and awareness for the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital.
The Unlimited Dance Marathon is a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign for the fight against pediatric health issues. In addition to the no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon, the event will feature personal stories from children and families served through Amplatz's resources. Participants dancing at the marathon will earn pledges for their dance time.
Similar to Penn State's THON event, this inaugural initiative on the Twin Cities campus will aim to capture the enthusiasm of student, student-athletes, staff and faculty in order to dramatically impact the lives of patients. The funds raised through the Unlimited Dance marathon will help build an indoor playground. Along with providing a break from hospital rooms, the playground assists in recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
