Tarah Hobbs was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.Com Freshman Best XI Second Team

Hobbs Collects Top Drawer Soccer Honors

MINNEAPOLIS - On Thursday, TopDrawerSoccer.Com announced their Best XI which honored 33 upperclassmen and 22 freshman for their performance on the field in 2013.

Freshman goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs was one of the 22 freshman honored by TopDrawerSoccer.Com when she was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.Com Freshman Best XI Second Team. Hobbs is joined by five other Big Ten freshman who had outstanding first-year performances for their respective programs.

Hobbs had a standout season for the Golden Gophers with a conference-best 122 saves and 4 Big Ten shutouts in conference play. She was honored as the 2013 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year as well as named to the All-Big Ten First Team and All-Big Ten Freshman Team. Hobbs was honored by the Big Ten during the season as she was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice and Big Ten Freshman of the week once. She was named to the NCAA Divison I Women's All-Great Lakes Regional Second Team with teammate, Katie Thyken. She was also honored by CS360 as Primetime Player of the Week on Oct. 8 and was named to their weekly honor roll during the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.

Hobbs is currently training with the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team as they work on finalizing the 20-person roster that will travel to the World Cup qualifiying tournament in January. Hobbs is one of the 24 individuals who were called to the camp that runs through Saturday, Dec. 21 in Sunrise, Fla. Hobbs is one of four Big Ten student-athletes that are attending the camp.
