GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota and Florida State will be meeting for the ninth time in each school's history, including the second-straight matchup in the B1G/ACC Challenge.
• Tuesday's game will be the fifth time that the two schools have met in the challenge, making it the most frequent matchup for the Gophers in the history of the event. Minnesota has played Virginia four times and six other schools once.
• Minnesota defeated the Seminoles 77-68 last season at the Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
• The Gophers are 6-8 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
• Malik Smith put together his three best games in Maroon & Gold this past week in Maui. The senior guard led the Gophers in two of the three games at the Maui Invitational including a team-high 16 points in the opener against Syracuse. He shot .421 (8-19) from three-point land and .867 (13-15) from the free-throw line. Overall, Smith is shooting .354 (17-48) from deep and .882 (15-17) from the line while averaging 10.0 points per game, fourth highest on the team.
• Minnesota is currently leading the Big Ten Conference with an overall free-throw percentage of .780 (138-177). That is currently the highest team FT percentage in the history of the program.
• The Gophers are averaging 77.9 points per game this season. Minnesota has only played eight games this season but that average is the highest since the 1976-77 Gopher team averaged 80.9 points per game.
