THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
• The Minnesota women's basketball team closes out its non-conference slate Sunday afternoon when it welcomes Oakland to Williams Arena for a 2:00 p.m. showdown.
• Fans can watch a live stream of Minnesota's contests on Gopher All-Access, can listen to Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on KBEM Jazz 88.5 FM and can follow live stats on Gophersports.com via gametracker. Live updates will also be available on twitter - @GophersWBB.
• The Gophers enter the contest with a 10-3 record on the season after defeating Auburn to win the Subway Classic on Dec. 22.
• Minnesota has now started off the season with a 10-3 record for two-straight seasons.
• Oakland makes the trip to Williams Arena with a 4-7 record after winning back-to-back games against UM-Dearborn and Western Michigan prior to the hollidays.
• Sunday's meeting will be the first between the two programs.
• Following the Gophers' home win over Auburn on Dec. 22, Minnesota head coach Pam Borton is just seven wins away from reaching her 300-career win milestone.
• Redshirt freshman center Amanda Zahui B. was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this season on Dec. 23 after averaging 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 blocks per game vs. UCLA and Auburn to be named to the Subway Classic All-Tournament Team.
• Zahui B. is now tied with former Gopher Kim Bell for the No. 8 spot on Minnesota's single-season record chart with 42 blocks this season. Janel McCarville currently holds the record with 65 blocked shots during the 2003-04 season.
• Junior guard Rachel Banham notched her 1,500th career point in the Gophers' victory over Auburn last week, moving her into eighth on the program record chart. With 1,511 total points, Banham needs 22 points to overtake former teammate Kiara Buford for the No. 7 spot.
• Minnesota enters the contest ranked second nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.444), while also ranking 16th in both field goal percentage (.470) and field goal percentage defense (.337). The Gophers rank 21st in the NCAA in blocks per game (5.4) and 25th in scoring defense (56.9).
• Individually, Rachel Banham ranked second in three-point field goal percentage, eighth in total points, 15th in points per game and 25th in three-point field goals per game, while Amanda Zahui B. ranks first in triple-doubles, seventh in blocks per game, 23rd in double-doubles and 29th in rebounds per game.
