THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
• The Minnesota (7-2) women's basketball team is set to host Miami (5-2) for the 2014 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Thursday night at Williams Arena. The game will tip off at 8:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on BTN with Kevin Kugler and Debbie Antonelli on the call.
• Fans can listen to Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on 1500ESPN and call follow live stats on Gophersports.com via gametracker. Live updates will also be available on twitter - @GophersWBB.
• This year's Big Ten/ACC Challenge will mark the seventh year of an event that has been extended to 2016.
• Minnesota is 2-4 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series vs. Miami, which includes a 1-0 record in Minneapolis.
• Minnesota enters the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with a four-game home winning streak, having outscored its opponents at Williams Arena by an average of 24.3 points per game.
• The Gophers return home to the Barn following the three-game Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown last weekend in Honolulu, Hawaii, where it posted a 2-1 record.
• Rachel Banham was named the tournament's MVP after averaging 28.3 points per game. She shot .596 (28-47) from the field and an impressive .636 (14-22) from three-point range in the three contests.
• Kayla Hirt earned a spot on the all-tournament team after averaging 13.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The forward notched a .563 (18-32) shooting percentage during the event and posted a career-high 16 points vs. the Rams.
• Rachel Banham was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll for her play last week. In four games, she helped the Gophers to a 3-1 record after averaging 25.5 points per game, a .593 (35-59) shooting percentage and a .607 (17-28) three-point field goal percentage.
• As a team, Minnesota leads the NCAA Division I with a .477 three-point field goal percentage and ranks ninth in overall field goal percentage with a .490 clip. The Gophers rank in the top-100 in 11 additional categories.
• Individually, the Gophers have three players that rank in the top-100 statistically, with Amanda Zahui B. and Rachel Banham leading the way. Zahui is tied for 1st nationally with her triple-double and also ranks 13th in rebounds per game (11.6), 20th in blocks per game (2.8) and 21 in double-doubles (4). Banham ranks second in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage (.600), 21st in three-point field goals per game (3.0), 30th in points per game (21.7) and 76th in field goal percentage (.527).
• Rachel Banham moved into the top-10 on Minnesota's career record chart last week with 1,438 career points.
