GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota and New Orleans will be meeting for the first time in each school's history on Saturday afternoon.
• The Gophers hold a perfect 7-0 all-time record against teams currently in the Southland Conference. Minnesota hasn't played an opponent from the Southland Conference since defeating Stephen F. Austin in November of 2009. Richard Pitino's FIU squad lost to SFA last season, the only game he has coached against a Southland Conference team.
• Minnesota defeated Florida State on Tuesday in the B1G/ACC Challenge. Andre Hollins led all scorers with 21 points, his third 20-point night of the season and 18th of his career. He has finished a game in double-figures 45 times in his career. Austin Hollins was the only other Gopher in double-figures with 16. He has scored in double-figures in eight of the team's nine games this season and 52 times in his career.
• Minnesota is currently leading the Big Ten Conference with an overall free-throw percentage of .772 (166-215). That is currently the highest team FT percentage in the history of the program.
• The Gophers are averaging 77.1 points per game this season. Minnesota has only played nine games this season but that average is the highest since the 1989-90 Gopher team averaged 83.3 points per game. That team, led by Willie Burton, went on to beat Syracuse in the Sweet 16 before losing to Georgia Tech in the Elite Eight.
