• Minnesota and Wisconsin at Williams Arena will kick off a big week of Border Battles between the two institutions. The men's hockey programs will face-off in Madison on Friday and on Sunday at the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic, played outdoors at Soldier Field in Chicago.
• The Gophers & Badgers have met 182 times prior to tonight, the longest running series in the history of Gopher basketball. Minnesota holds a 94-88 record in the series, including 61-32 in Minneapolis.
• Rodney Williams enters the matchup against Wisconsin needing two rebounds for 500 in his career. When he does, he will become the 19th player in Gopher history to amass at least 1,000 career points & 500 career rebounds.
• Andre Hollins is averaging a team and career-high 13.8 ppg this season, 11th-most in the Big Ten Conference. He is ninth in scoring in conference games with an average of 14.8 ppg. He has led the team in scoring seven times this season including a career-high 41 against Memphis. He has finished six games this season with 20 or more points.
• Trevor Mbakwe is averaging a double-double of 10.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game over the Gophers' last 15 games. He currently sits atop the Big Ten Conference in rebounding with an overall average of 8.8 rpg and also is tops during Big Ten play with a 10.7 rpg average.
• Mbakwe also led the conference in rebounding as a junior (2010-11). The graduate student has contributed eight double-doubles on the season and now has 31 for his career.
