MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota men's indoor track and field team will head to the 2013 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships as the No. 13 program in the nation, according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's newest rankings on Tuesday.

The Gophers jumped five spots in this week's poll after a pair of memorable performances last weekend at the Alex Wilson Invite in South Bend, Ind.

Minnesota's distance medley relay team of Harun Abda, Travis Burkstrand, Cameron Boy and Nick Hutton set a new Minnesota record of 9:29.22 last weekend while John Simons ran just the second sub-four minute mile in Minnesota men's indoor track and field history, crossing the finish line at 3:59.32. All five student-athletes earned qualifying bids to the national championships in Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend.

Also representing the Gophers this weekend at the indoor championships will be the 4x400 relay team of Abda, Boy Jacob Capek and Goaner Deng and Jon Lehman and Micah Hegerle in the weight throw. Abda is also slated to compete in the 800-meters.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 8 from 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. ET and March 9 from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air Sunday, March 17 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
