Harding Wins Gold at Canadian Senior Nationals

University of Minnesota sophomore swimmer Samantha Harding notched a time of 16:42.46 to win gold in the women's 1500m freestyle on the opening day of the Canadian Senior Nationals Wednesday. Harding is one of five current and former Golden Gophers competing at the event at the Pointe Claire Aquatic Centre in Montreal.

Junior Jessica Plant won bronze in the women's 200m freestyle with a time of 2:01.91, while fellow junior Devin Ste. Marie placed sixth in the women's 200m butterfly with a time of 2:16.11. Sophomore Kierra Smith also competed on opening day, posting a time of 28.69 in the women's 50m butterfly to tie for 15th overall.

Former Gopher Jillian Tyler is also scheduled to compete at the Canadian Senior Nationals, which run through Saturday.
