Gophers Take Third at Minnesota Invitational

| MINNEAPOLIS -The Minnesota women's golf program finished third at the Minnesota Invitational on Tuesday at the Minikahda Club, firing a 303 in the final round to finish +47 at 309-299-303--911.
Kent State took the team title at 306-302-294--902 (+38) to best Illinois by a stroke in the team standings. Kent State's Jennifer Ha also won the individual title at -1 with a 76-71-68--215, her final round on Tuesday proved to be the low round of the tournament.
Anna Laorr paced Minnesota over the two-day tournament, finishing 13th. Laorr shot a final round 76 to finish the tournament at +13, 77-76-76--229. Carmen Laguna and Banchalee Theinthong finished one stroke behind Laorr in a four-way tie for 14th at +14, 230 with both Gophers posting their lowest rounds of the tournament on Tuesday. Laguna ended the tournament at 77-77-76--230 while Theinthong came in at 76-81-73--230.
Sarinee Thitiratanakorn carded a +17, 79-76-78--233 to finish 25th for Minnesota's fourth and final score for the team card while Emie Peronnin came in tied for 30th at +21, 83-70-84--237.
Competing as individuals, Sophie Kitchen finished tied for 46th at +28, 81-82-81--244, Taylor Quinn came in tied for 57th at +34, 85-82-83--250, Alexandra Buska finished tied for 59th at +39, 87-82-86--255 and Tiffany Gretsch carded a +40, 84-87-85--256 to finish in 62nd place.
Minnesota continues the 2013 fall season on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Highland Park, Ill.
