Gophers Complete First Round at Betsy Rawls Invite

AUSTIN, Texas - With 18 holes complete at the three-day Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, the Minnesota women's golf team stands in 12th place after Sunday's competition at the University of Texas Golf Club.
Leading the way for the Gophers was senior Anna Laorr and freshman Celia Kuenster, with the duo scoring a first-round 73 and 74, respectively. At one- and two-over-par, the duo is tied for 18th and 23rd. Freshman Heather Ciskowski, debuting in the Gopher lineup for the first time, fired a four-over 76 to tie for 42nd place, while classmate Sabrine Garrison's 78 is tied for 55th. One stroke behind is senior Carmen Laguna, who stands tied for 58th with an opening-round 79.
Gophers sophomore Emie Peronnin, competing individually, shot a first-round 80 (+8) and is tied for 65th place.
As a team, Minnesota's opening-round 301 (+13) is two strokes out of a three-way tie for ninth. UNLV leads the team competition at -4 (284), while Baylor's Hayley Davis and Iowa State's Chondala Chayanun are tied atop the leaderboard at -7 (65).
Second round action starts Monday morning at 8:15 a.m. as Peronnin tees off, with the Gophers set to begin in the final groups starting at 9:18 a.m.
