Gopher Spotlight: Haley Helverson

Gophersports.com had the chance to sit down with junior defender and West Des Moines native, Haley Helverson. The Gopher captain anchors the restraining line for the Maroon and Gold as they have recorded 5 shutouts and has started each of the Gophers eleven games this season. With a battle against No. 7 Penn State on the horizon, Helverson seems calm and prepared for the task ahead. Helverson was recently featured in the "Faces of Gopher Athletics" edition of Ski-U-Mah. What is your favorite Gopher Soccer memory?
There have been so many, but I would have to say the Border Battle. Beating Wisconsin my sophomore year at Wisconsin. I remember telling Coach Deana that I was going to score the goal in double overtime and ended up doing so. I will never forget that moment!

Favorite part of playing at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium?
The whole atmosphere is incredible. The fans, the facility, and being under the lights on Friday nights is so much fun!
