LAS VEGAS - Senior Anna Laorr led the University of Minnesota women's golf team on the day with an even-par 72 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Gophers finished the first round tied for seventh place at +7, 14 shots behind the tournament leader, San Diego State.


With Laorr's par, she is currently tied for 11th place. Freshman Sabrine Garrison finished the first round tied for 24th after shooting a one-over 73. Senior Sarinee Thitiratanakorn was one stroke back, tied for 36th with her first-round 74 (+2). Freshman Celia Kuenster was four-over-par and is tied for 54th, while senior Carmen Laguna rounded out the Gophers one stroke behind, at five-over-par 77 and in a tie for 63rd.


San Diego State took an early lead and ended the first round with a team total 281. UC Riverside ended second on the team leaderboard (287) and in third, is host team UNLV (289).


The tournament's individual leader hailing from San Diego State, Haleigh Krause, who ended the day seven below par (65).

The Gophers return to action for the second round of the tournament Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. PT.
