Gophers Ninth After First Day in Windy City

WILMETTE, Ill. - Freshman Celia Kuenster finished the first two rounds of action at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at one-over-par (72-73-145), leading the Minnesota women's golf team through the first day of action at Westmoreland Country Club.
Kuenster, tied for ninth after 36 holes, is leading the Gophers who sit in ninth place among the team standings. Sabrine Garrison is in a tie for 32nd at +7 (77-74-151), while senior Carmen Laguna is also among the top-50 after her nine-over-par 153 (73-80) places her in a tie for 46th. Both carding a 14-over-par 158, senior Anna Laorr and freshman Heather Ciskowski are among a three-way tie for 66th, the latter competing as an individual.
Rounding out the Gopher performers is sophomore Emie Peronnin, who is tied for 71st at +17 (82-79-161).
USC leads the team standings at five-over (294-287-581), while Tulane's Emily Penttila is atop the individual leaderboard at -7 (71-66-137).
The Windy City Collegiate Classic concludes Tuesday, with final round action set to begin with tee times at 7:30 a.m.
