GOPHERS SET TO HOST NORTHWESTERN
The University of Minnesota returns to the Sports Pavilion confines after being on the road for four-straight matches the past two weeks. The Golden Gophers host the Northwestern Wildcats Wednesday in the two teams' second meeting this season. Northwestern won the previous meeting on Oct. 5 in Evanston, Ill., in a 3-0 victory.

ON THE DOCKET
Minnesota travels to Penn State this Saturday, followed by Nov. 19 road match at Maryland. The Gophers are home again on Nov. 22 against Purdue.
TAPPS RECEIVE ACADEMIC LAURELS
University of Minnesota sophomore middle blockers Paige Tapp and Hannah Tapp have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Teams, announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Paige Tapp received first-team all-district honors, while the Hannah Tapp was named to the second-team all-district. As a first-team honoree, Paige moves onto Academic All-America voting, where first, second and third-team All-America selections will be named later this month.
GOOD TO BE HOME
The Gophers are back home after a four-match road swing. Minnesota is 7-5 away from the Sports Pavilion this season, including a 5-7 mark on opponent's home court. Following the Northwestern match, the Gophers are then at Penn State (Nov. 15), at Maryland (Nov. 19) before returning home against Purdue (Nov. 22).
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Like Minnesota, Northwestern enters the match with a 15-10 overall record and a 5-9 mark in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are coming off a split weekend against Illinois when they won in five against the Illini in Evanston and fell to Illinois at Huff Hall last Saturday. Prior to that, Northwestern snapped a six-match losing streak in a 3-1 defeat over Michigan. Symone Abbott leads the team with 311 kills in 803 attempts, while Kayla Morin has 255 kills in 826 attempts. Katie Dutchman leads the team in hitting .378 (220-52-445). Taylor Tashima has 728 assists, while libero Caroline Niedospial has a team-high 465 digs. As a team, the Wildcats are hitting .233, average 2.33 blocks per set and 14.71 digs per set.
LAST WEEKEND RECAPS
The Gophers are coming off a weekend split at Michigan State and Michigan, Nov. 7-8. Minnesota earned a 3-1 win over the Spartans Friday night, followed by a three-set loss to Michigan Saturday. On Friday, Hannah Tapp hit a team-high .545 as she had seven kills in 11 attempts and just one error. Daly Santana had a match-best 17 kills in 47 swings, while Alyssa Goehner started as the outside hitter and had 12 kills in 34 attempts to hit .294. Sarah Wilhite had nine kills in 19 attempts to hit .421. On Saturday, Santana had a team-high 13 kills, while Goehner had 11 kills in 26 attempts. Hannah Tapp hit .308 with five kills in 13 swings. Michigan held a 46-40 kill advantage and a 46-29 dig advantage. The Gophers had seven blocks to Michigan's four.
