Opening statement…
"We're very pleased with our opening night performance. [We got] contributions from a lot of people, and Rachel [Banham] reaching the 2,000-point plateau is quite an accomplishment at this level. Scoring over 100 points for the first time in 12 years here is exciting. The theme of this year obviously is to "ignite Williams," and we feel strongly about our first night's performance."
On emphasizing fundamentals…
"We dedicate approximately 25 minutes per practice to fundamental skill work. We will do that all the way into March. It's a huge point of emphasis for our program in general."
On moving forward from this initial win…
"We'll have the 24-hour rule where we'll celebrate any victory and sulk over any loss, and then we're on to the next one. This is just the beginning for us. We certainly have a lot of areas to improve upon as well. …We have a long way to go, and it's early. We're going to get right back at after it on Monday at practice."
