GOPHERS ON THE ROAD AT MARYLAND
Minnesota competes on the road for the second-straight match as it travels to College Park, Md., Wednesday night to face the Maryland Terrapins. The contest between the Golden Gophers and the Terps is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start. Minnesota then returns home to face the No. 16 Purdue Boilermakers, Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

Following the Maryland match, the Gophers face Purdue at home, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. The Gophers close out the regular season, Nov. 26 at Ohio State and home Nov. 28 vs. Indiana. The Nov. 28 match also marks senior night for Morgan Bohl and Adrianna Nora.

For the final two matches of the season, Gopher Sports will have a few promotions during the Purdue match (Nov. 22) and before the Indiana match (Nov. 28). Saturday's match against the No. 16 Boilermakers is Molly Lohman's community day. Fans hailing from Mankato, Minn., will receive tickets for a discounted rate. The Purdue match also features Social Media Saturday as attendees will have a chance to win prizes during the game. It's also another autograph night following the match. On Nov. 28, Black Friday consists of reserved bench seating for just $5. It's also Stillwater Community Day for senior Adrianna Nora.

University of Minnesota sophomore middle blockers Paige Tapp and Hannah Tapp have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Teams, announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). Paige Tapp received first-team all-district honors, while the Hannah Tapp was named to the second-team all-district. As a first-team honoree, Paige moves onto Academic All-America voting, where first, second and third-team All-America selections will be named later this month.

Head coach Hugh McCutcheon has announced that Taylor Morgan (Blaine, Minn.) and Samantha Seliger Swenson (Minnetonka, Minn.) will join the Golden Gopher volleyball team. Morgan and Seliger Swenson are set to join the program for the 2015 volleyball season. Morgan, a 6-foot outside hitter, is a two-sport athlete with Blaine High School and Kokoro volleyball club. Morgan was ranked as the 89th recruit in this year's national recruiting class. In 2012, Morgan helped lead the Blaine Bengals to a state-tournament berth and was named to the state's all-tournament team.Seliger Swenson, a 5-foot, 11-inch setter from Minnetonka, Minn., comes to Minnesota as the nation's No. 8 recruit. A Prep Volleyball three-time All-American, a USA Today All-American, a two-time MaxPreps All-American, Seliger Swenson was an AVCA Under Armour First-Team All-American. With Hopkins High School, Seliger Swenson was named the 2014 Minnesota Miss Baden Volleyball, an award that goes to the top senior player in the state.

The Gophers are in the midst of finishing the regular season with seven of their last 10 matches on the road. Minnesota is 7-6 away from the Sports Pavilion this season, including a 5-8 mark on opponent's home court. Minnesota's last road win came against Michigan State, Nov. 7.

Minnesota defeated Northwestern in four sets, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-15, Nov. 12 at the Sports Pavilion. Minnesota hit .313 in the win, while it held Northwestern to .236. Minnesota had 63 kills to Northwestern's 52, outblocked the Wildcats, 12-8, and posted a 64-59 dig advantage. The Gophers were led by Daly Santana, who tied a career-high 21 kills as she hit .429 (21-3-43). Sarah Wilhite followed with a double double when she had 18 kills, 16 digs and hit .395. Erica Handley came into the match in the second set and established a match-best 43 assists.
The Gophers, then traveled to No. 6 Penn State and dropped a 25-20, 25-12, 25-23 loss to the Nittany Lions Saturday. The Nittany Lions improve their win streak to 10-straight, including nine that have been won in straight sets. Minnesota's kill leader was Daly Santana, who had eight kills, while Paige Tapp hit .429 and had a team-high five blocks. Tapp also had seven kills, while Goehner had five and a team-high eight digs.

Maryland enters the Minnesota match with a 9-18 overall record and are 2-14 in its first year of Big Ten competition. The Terps defeated Rutgers twice in back-to-back matches, Oct. 21 and Oct. 25 for their two conference wins. Last weekend, Maryland took a set off of then No. 11 Nebraska as it fell 3-1 in a Sunday matinee. Ashleigh Crutcher has a team-best 315 kills, while Emily Fraik ranks second with 188. Hailey Murray is hitting a team-best .245 and averages 1.03 blocks per set. Amy Dion has 344 digs, while Carlotta Oggioni has 642 assists. As a team, the Terps are hitting .147.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST TERPS
Minnesota holds a 4-0 mark all time against Maryland. The Gophers defeated the Terps 25-15, 26-24, 25-17 earlier this year at the Sports Pavilion. Prior to the October meeting this season, Minnesota last faced Maryland in 1986 and 2002.
