Head Coach Richard Pitino
On playing Franklin Pierce...
"It's hard to take a lot from it. You know, that team's played a lot of games in a short amount of time. I don't know how much stock I'm going to put into tonight but I do think this team has done a good job the last two games. We've got a lot of respect for Western Kentucky."
"We shared the ball well. 28 assists was nice. 58 percent from the field is great. We only short four challenged shots, whereas the Louisville game there was 18 or 19."
On Carlos Morris' team-best sixteen points and how he achieved that this evening...
"When you shoot good shots, Carlos Morris being one of them. He was very very efficient and that's what he needs to do. Every shot he took was really good and that's why he played a good game."
On teaming up with Nate Mason...
Ya, ya he definitely was, he let me know early. Me, Dre, Hollins and Nate we talked about it before I went in, like I need to score, I need to score.
On his teammates reaction from the bench when he hit his first three-pointer...
I mean it is really cool to see that, I knew after I scored that I wanted a couple more so I couldn't get too excited when they were cheering like that.
On surpassing his career-high points...
I didn't keep track of how many I was just trying to keep going. Gotta get it up there gotta get that average up there. Gotta get that career average up there.
On the team's success thus far and where they are headed...
Well, the beginning of the season is when we focus on ourselves more than the other teams, because once the Big Ten starts that's when things get really big, and I think right now we are just focused on trying to get our identity like Coach said. Coach says we are getting better each day and I think that's the biggest thing; just worry about what we're doing. That's the only thing we can control.
On the team buying into scoring...
I think that last game was a huge step for us, and I think it showed that we can be ourselves and I think there is not one person on this team who wouldn't want someone else to score more than them, I think that's big. I think of the past three years this is the team that is the most unselfish; we are just so close to each other that we want everyone to do well.
Andre Hollins
On Shell's performance...
On the mental game vs. Franklin Pierce...
He told us it was going to be a lot of a mental game, I mean we were coming off a one day break. He said play our game and stay aggressive on offense and defense.
On what he was most proud of from tonight's game...
I would say my assists, 6 assists and 1 turnover, it's pretty good.
On preparing for tonight's game...
Coach told us to not overlook the opponent, last year we played a D2 opponent and we were down 7 by half. We know we can be beat by anybody; anyone can be beat any day so we just came out here and did our best.
On Shell's performance...
It's big time man, it's always good to see Kendal go off the bench and go off like he did. He has been working so its big time and we are all happy for Kendal.
