Team / Series Notes
• Tonight's game was the first all-time meeting in men's basketball between Minnesota and Franklin Pierce.
• Minnesota is making its first appearance in the NIT Season Tip-Off (formerly the Preseason NIT) since the 1997-98 season, which was later vacated.
• The Gophers won their opening game in the NIT Season Tip-Off with Tuesday's 76-54 victory against Western Kentucky.
• Head coach Richard Pitino improved his record at Minnesota to 27-14, while his three-year overall record moved to 45-28.
• Minnesota's 109 points were the most in a game since a 104-66 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 13, 2003. It was Minnesota's highest point total in a game since a 116-point output versus Rider on Jan. 3, 1990.
• The 52-point margin of victory was the third-largest in program history. Minnesota defeated Rider by 68 points (116-48) on Jan. 3, 1990, and posted a 53-point win (78-25) versus South Dakota State on Dec. 3, 1945.
• All 12 players who saw time on the court for the Gophers scored four points or more.
• The Gophers made 11-of-15 (.733) three-pointers, which marks the third-best three-point percentage in a game (minimum eight attempts).
• The 11 three-point field goals ties for eighth most in a single game.
• Minnesota made 6-of-7 (.857) three-pointers in the first half.
• The Gophers dished out 28 assists, which ties for the fourth-highest total in school history. The last time Minnesota had 28 assists in a game was versus Indiana State on Dec. 29, 1982.
• Five Minnesota players had three or more assists in the game.
Individual Notes
• Junior guard Carlos Morris led all players with 16 points, his first career double-figure scoring output. Morris made 5-of-9 field goals, while tying for game-high honors with four steals and dishing out three assists.
• Freshman guard Nate Mason came off the bench to score 15 points in just 23 minutes. Mason made 6-of-12 field goals, including all three of his three-point attempts, while adding five assists and four rebounds.
• Senior guard Andre Hollins had 14 points, making all four of his three-point tries. It is the 66th career double-figure scoring game for Hollins, who also led all players with eight rebounds (one off his career high).
• Junior forward Joey King had 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. It's King's 20th career double-digit scoring game, and his second this season.
• Senior guard Kendall Shell had career-bests with eight points on 3-of-4 field goals, including a three-pointer.
• Senior forward Maurice Walker made 4-of-6 field goals and finished with eight points and six rebounds.
• Senior guard DeAndre Mathieu had a game-high six assists (one turnover) and added six points.
• Sophomore forward Charles Buggs tied his career-highs for rebounds (4) and blocks (2), while registering a new career-best with two assists and adding eight points.
• Sophomore guard Daquein McNeil had a career-high five assists and tied his career-high with five points.
• Freshman center Bakary Konate tied for game-high honors with four steals and added six points and three rebounds.
• Freshman forward Josh Martin had his best outing as a Gopher, with eight points and five rebounds.
