MINNEAPOLIS - The Gopher women's hockey team is pleased to host its annual Teddy Bear Toss this Saturday when Minnesota hosts St. Cloud State at Ridder Arena.

The Teddy Bear Toss will occur after the first Gopher goal. Fans are invited to bring teddy bears or other stuffed animals to the game and throw them on the ice after the first Minnesota goal. All of the stuffed animals will be donated to charity as part of the Gophers' annual toy drive.

Last year, Gopher women's hockey collected 395 stuffed animals to benefit the Toys for Tots organization as part of Minnesota's department-wide toy drive. The program increased its donation from the 2012-13 year when the team collected 200 toy donations, and fans can help the Gophers break the record again this weekend.

Minnesota and St. Cloud State face off at 7:07 p.m. CT Friday and 4:07 p.m. CT Saturday night. In addition to Saturday's Teddy Bear Toss, the Gophers are holding High School Weekend during this week's series. High school hockey teams should send rosters to gsm@umn.edu with the subject "Gopher Women's Hockey High School Day" to register.
